Job Description

A fantastic opportunity exists for a Senior Legal Adviser to provide strategic legal advice to support Digital Victoria, Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Common Corporate Platforms (CCP) program.

The Office of the General Counsel provides strategic legal and policy advice to the Premier, the Department’s Ministers and other branches.

The CCP program, led by Digital Victoria, will deliver whole of government corporate functions for Human Resources, Procurement, and Finance, and will help to create a modern and coordinated approach to digital processes and services across government.

As the Senior Legal Adviser, you will work within a high-performing team and provide strategic advice on significant legal issues relevant to the Common Corporate Platforms program.

You will also provide strategic, risk-based legal advice and counsel on contractual and procurement matters, as well as draft various legal instruments with limited supervision.

Using your strong stakeholder engagement skills, you willl work closely with key stakeholders in other departments and agencies to support the establishment of the Common Corporate Platforms program.

About you

Candidates must be admitted to practice and be eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate.

In addition, as our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Significant experience providing technically excellent, strategically-focused and practical legal advice on complex legal issues.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills and a strong commitment to service excellence.
  • A proven ability to independently and effectively manage competing priorities and deliver results.
  • Proven ability to identify, manage and, where appropriate, escalate risks.

Preferred candidates will be required to complete a Pre-employment Declaration and Consent form.
