The role
We are seeking a motivated and commercially-minded lawyer with 4+ years PAE to join our growing commercial team. You will work closely with partners to deliver high-quality advice, contribute to business development, and enhance our footprint in Western Australia’s dynamic corporate & business market.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Advising on corporate and commercial matters – structuring of companies, trusts and business entities, shareholder agreements, joint ventures, M&A, disposals.
Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, consultancy and licensing agreements, wholesale supply agreements, services agreements.
Conducting due diligence, regulatory/compliance reviews, corporate governance updates and policy documentation.
Advising on business acquisition and disposal transactions; closing of deals, structuring the transaction and overseeing documentation.
Supporting debt-recovery, collections and commercial dispute prevention work.
Engaging with clients across small/medium enterprises (SMEs), start-ups, family businesses, and private companies.
Contributing to business development: identifying new opportunities, participating in client meetings, networking, and supporting the growth of the commercial practice.
Working both from our West Perth office and with flexibility/hybrid arrangements; scope to support our regional “hot-desk” and agribusiness clients. (bailiwicklegal.com.au)
What we’re looking for
Admitted in Western Australia, with 4+ years post-admission experience (ideally 4–7 years) in commercial/corporate law, preferably within private practice.
Robust experience in transactional/commercial advisory work: corporate structuring, M&A, contract negotiation, and governance.
Able to demonstrate strong drafting skills, commercial acumen, and the capacity to manage matters independently or with minimal supervision.
Excellent client engagement and relationship-building skills; proactive mindset in business development.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, while also managing matters individually and meeting deadlines and budgets.
Admitted (or eligible) for an unsupervised practising certificate in WA.
