About the role
  
Our high profile client is seeking a Legal Counsel (or Senior Legal Counsel) with responsibility including management, general advisory, procurement and contracts. Provide specialist legal advice in a commercial and government context, and provide some leadership in procurement functions, compliance and service delivery.
  
You will work collaboratively across the organisation, providing services to support effective governance and deliver on legislative compliance.

The ideal candidate will have both commercial law experience and broad expertise, including an understanding of government legislation. You will also have experience implementing policies, procedures, and work-plans to enhance service delivery.
  
Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide timely and accurate legal advice as required across a broad range of legal areas, including preparation of reports and correspondence of complex issues.
  • Assist with the preparation and drafting of leases, licences and other agreements, as well as drafting and review of contracts, documents, agreements, local laws, statutory notices, and associated documentation.
  • Provide advice to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of appropriate policies and procedures to effectively manage the procurement function and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Manage relevant staff to support ongoing service delivery and achieve functional objectives in procurement and contract management.
