Commercial Litigation & Insolvency Associate – 3 to 5 years PQE

About the role
You will undertake a range of exciting and challenging work across a variety of commercial litigation and dispute matters. Our diversified client base ranges from publicly listed companies and top-tier insolvency firms to family-owned businesses.
You can expect to advise our clients, brief and instruct counsel, and have detailed involvement in a wide range of commercial litigation and insolvency matters, including complex commercial litigation, building and construction disputes (including Security of Payment Act matters), property disputes, shareholder, partnership and franchise disputes, and debt recoveries, including complex debt recovery proceedings. You can also expect to have detailed involvement in various front-end and back-end insolvency-related matters, including advising insolvency practitioners at all stages of the external administration process (including during administrations, receiverships and liquidations) and acting in proceedings concerning voidable transactions, claims against former officers of companies, public examinations and fee approval applications.
You will gain valuable experience as you will be directly involved in bankruptcy proceedings and proceedings in the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal in a wide variety of disputes, including by having the day-to-day conduct of such matters.
What we are looking for
- PQE of 3-5 years in commercial litigation and insolvency, either as a paralegal or post-study.
- Proven teamwork and collaboration skills, with the capacity to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Commercial acumen and confidence in building robust client relationships, with a deep understanding of their individual business needs.
- Excellent technical, analytical, communication, and research skills to deliver commercially astute advice.
- Ability to anticipate and address potential challenges, ensuring clients are well-prepared and confident throughout the litigation process.
- Meticulous attention to detail in preparing evidence, drafting court documents, and providing client advice.
- Experience with civil procedure rules in the Federal and NSW Courts, rules of evidence, and the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act 1999, including the adjudication process.
- Proven ability to brief and instruct counsel effectively, facilitating interactions to achieve favourable settlements.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development, with a focus on building expertise in insolvency law and practice.
