  • Challenging and rewarding roles with competitive remuneration packages
  • Contribute to the Court’s reform agenda and improve access to justice

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (Division 2) (Court) is the biggest and busiest court in the federal judicial system, having broad jurisdiction across general federal law, migration and family law. Sitting in all capital cities and other locations, the Court comprises 94 judges as well as hundreds of legal, managerial, social science and support staff.

The Court is eager to engage enthusiastic and highly capable legal practitioners as Judicial Registrars who have experience in civil litigation to help drive forward the Court’s modern and dynamic reform agenda. These reforms aim to enhance the Court’s approach to case management in general federal law to facilitate the just resolution of disputes quickly, inexpensively and efficiently while improving access to justice.

Judicial Registrars in general federal law exercise delegated judicial power to hear and determine certain bankruptcy, Fair Work and consumer proceedings; conduct case management and interlocutory hearings; undertaking complex mediations; and provide other critical case management support to Judges. Judicial Registrars also contribute to the development of the Court’s practice and procedure.

The Court is committed to supporting the professional development of all its staff and providing a career pathway in the Court. Judicial Registrars with suitable experience may be considered for national leadership roles. The Court also has an extraordinary track record of judicial appointments being made from the ranks of its Registrars.

In addition to highly stimulating and rewarding work, successful applicants will receive the opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, collaborative national team and are eligible to receive attractive remuneration packages in excess of $200,000 including Commonwealth superannuation of 15.4%.
