The Opportunities

The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is recruiting for multiple Researcher positions within the Research Branch of the Parliamentary Library. The following positions are being recruited to:

•     Senior Researchers (PEL1)

•     Researchers (PSL6)

•     Research Assistants (PSL4/5)

The Research Branch provides high quality information, analysis and advice to Senators and Members of Parliament in support of their parliamentary and representational roles. Researchers work directly with clients to research, analyse and synthesise information across a broad range of topics.

Researchers respond to requests for information on issues of relevance to the Parliament, prepare publications (including analysis of legislation) and work on the Library’s Central Enquiry Point. Our Researchers work in diverse teams and display sound judgement and sensitivity while working in the parliamentary environment.

We are looking for researchers who are well-informed, self-motivated, adaptable and able to provide excellent client service. The successful candidates must be able to maintain strict confidentiality and impartiality in accordance with Parliamentary Library policies.

Opportunities for training and professional development are available for DPS staff to ensure they have the skills and knowledge to deliver excellent service.

Please note: Several current vacancies will be filled through this recruitment process. A merit pool will also be established to fill further ongoing or non-ongoing vacancies that may arise over the next 12 months.

All positions are located at Australian Parliament House, Canberra.
