Due to growth, an exciting opportunity has developed for an experienced Senior Associate with developed Financial Services Law experience to join our successful and growing team.

We offer work as a ‘whole project’ approach, providing expert legal advice from inception to delivery and completion.

The position is based in our new stunning Sydney CBD office which boasts glass walls allowing ample natural light, impressive board, and meetings rooms, lots of break out spaces, open plan seating and hybrid working arrangements.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A deep understanding of the financial services industry and its operation in the Australian legal environment with ability to deliver commercially focused strategic level advice particularly in the areas of Australian financial services and credit licensing.
  • Significant experience in advice relating to compliance frameworks, regulated activities, financial products and services, listed and unlisted Australian or overseas markets.
  • Significant experience in client advice and management, maintaining relationships. i.e. a trusted adviser and service provider to the financial services industry.
  • Focus of experience will ideally be on wealth management, fund managers and advisers, self-managed or public offer superannuation funds, retail financial advisers, property investment, private equity or hedge funds.
  • Exposure to fintech products, cryptocurrency or digital assets including emerging legal principles in this area.
  • Well-developed legal drafting skills including offer documents, representative or administration agreements, counterparty, custodian and investment agreements.
  • Developing innovative client solutions with collaboration of the firm’s technology.
  • Providing thought leadership on emerging issues.
  • Building and maintain strong relationships with team members (across various practices) and more broadly with clients.
  • Financial and budget support to the Division – including analysis of business and financial metrics, proposing pricing strategies, budget reviews.
  • Developing team members – train to inspire, continuity of work and growth.
  • Career progression.

In addition, you will possess:

  • A current practising certificate with 6-8 years’ post qualified experience.
  • Exhibit strong problem solving and time management skills.
  • Be motivated, dynamic, career-orientated and a team player.
  • Be professionally presented with initiative and superior communication skills.
