Situated less than 20kms from the CBD, covering 254 sq km and home to 265,000 residents, Northern Beaches is one of Metropolitan Sydney’s most iconic and recognised locations with suburbs including Dee Why, Manly, Newport, Pittwater, Shelley Beach and Terry Hills.

You will be an expert advisory point for legal queries and issues Council-wide, but with a strong focus on planning and environment matters, including litigation in courts including the Land & Environment Court, Local Court, District Court, Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal. The role also involves property and commercial matters including leases, licences, deeds, contracts and tenders. As a vital support resource to General Counsel, you will also be involved in managing Council’s external legal partners.

An extensive background in delivering informed legal advice across a range of practice areas, ideally including environment, planning and administrative law, has given you hands-on experience in undertaking in-depth research, analysis and reporting in respect of complex legal issues. You hold a current legal practising certificate and qualified to practice in New South Wales as a legal practitioner. On a personal level, you maintain uncompromised integrity at all times, have the ability to think creatively when problem-solving and your commitment to values and behaviours means you are a valued team member.
