Job Description

The Australian Government has introduced legislation to the Parliament to establish a powerful, transparent and independent National Anti-Corruption Commission (the Commission). Subject to the passage of legislation, the Commission will have broad jurisdiction to investigate and report on serious or systemic corruption across the Commonwealth public sector and will form a central pillar in the Government’s broader federal integrity framework. The Commission will work closely with other integrity agencies across the Commonwealth to deliver integrity outcomes, and will be overseen by a Parliamentary Joint Committee and an Inspector. In anticipation of and subject to passage of the legislation, the Australian Government is seeking expressions of interest from outstanding leaders for the following roles:

Commissioner

The Commissioner will lead the Commission and exercise a broad range of powers including significant coercive powers and the power to hold compulsory hearings, including in public.

Deputy Commissioners

Up to three Deputy Commissioners will assist the Commissioner in the performance of their functions, including by leading investigations into allegations of corruption.

Chief Executive Officer

The CEO will provide strategic leadership and have administrative responsibility for the Commission, including ensuring the Commission’s operations are underpinned by strong policies, capabilities, systems and processes, and delivering effective corruption prevention and education activities.

The Inspector

The Inspector will be an independent officer of the Parliament, and give assurance that the Commission is operating fairly and effectively. This will include detecting and investigating any corruption issues within the Commission, and complaints or disclosures about the conduct of the agency or its staff.

The Commission will have offices in Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth
