Senior Legal Adviser, On-Demand Work Support Service – Readvertisement

The Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) helps the government achieve its strategic objectives by supporting the Premier, Deputy Premier, the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, Industrial Relations, Government Services, as well as the Cabinet.

Industrial Relations Victoria (IRV), within DPC, provides strategic industrial relations legislative, policy and technical advice to Government and departments.  IRV engages with Victorian employers, employees and their representatives to support a positive industrial relations environment, and advocate for fair and productive workplaces, secure work and gender pay equity.

IRV is seeking an expert Senior Legal Adviser in the field of employment law and workplace relations to support the implementation of the Victorian Government’s response to the Inquiry into the Victorian On-Demand Workforce.

This role works collaboratively across the team and will:

be a key point of expert legal advice and appropriate response / action;
support the grant management process; and
focus on continuous improvement of systems and processes.
About You

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

experience and expertise in employment law and its application
ability to effectively identify and respond to emerging issues at both a strategic and operational level
analytical and problem-solving skills with sound judgment, providing factual, logical and appropriate recommendations
strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to communicate clearly to diverse audiences.
Ideally, you will be eligible to be admitted to practice law in an Australian jurisdiction and eligible to hold a Victorian practising certificate.
