The NTEU (NSW) is seeking to employ a suitably qualified and experienced Industrial Officer for its NSW Division located in Surry Hills. The position is full-time ongoing and will be available from 3 April 2023. The position, whilst based in Sydney, does require some travel.

The NTEU is a federally registered union with coverage of staff employed in relation to higher education. The NTEU (NSW) is responsible for workers in all NSW universities and their associated student organisations, research institutes and companies.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Manage a case load including representing, advising, and advocating for members on workplace issues and disputes with managers.
  • Provide advocacy, and prepare applications, submissions, and evidence for matters before the Fair Work Commission, industrial tribunals, and Courts.
  • Provide high-level technical support and lead major Enterprise Bargaining negotiations.
  • Provide advice on workplace and industry-wide industrial matters.

The position will complement an established and supportive industrial team in the New South Wales Division Office.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent.
  • Excellent personal organisation and ability to prioritise.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\
  • Proficiency in the use of computers, including databases and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated advocacy skills.
  • Strong commitment to union values.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • To perform this role you will be required to have or obtain, and maintain:
  • A valid driver’s licence; and
  • Right of Entry Permits.

SALARY:

Salary range is as per NTEU National Staff Agreement Level 7 ($114,807 – $126,754 per annum, plus 17% superannuation).
