Job Description

The FCFCoA (Division 2) and FCA are seeking highly capable candidates who are enthusiastic, driven and motivated to perform the key functions of a National Registrar.

Registrars exercise judicial and statutory functions delegated by judges or conferred by the rules of FCA and FCFCoA in the general federal law jurisdictions of those Courts.

The National Registrar is a multi-faceted position and plays a key role within the structure of the Courts, particularly in relation to the following:

undertaking case management support and analysis and understanding emerging trends in filings in the FCFCoA and FCA- particularly in relation to the newly expanded small claims procedure;
acting as mediator for general federal law matters filed in the FCFCoA- particularly in relation to small claims matters;
exercising delegation judicial functions in relation to a variety of case management, costs and other matters;
acting on a rostered basis as national duty registrar for general federal law matters filed in the FCFCoA and FCA;
liaising with judges, court staff, court users and other internal and external stakeholders; and
working closely with legal and other staff who undertake judicial registrar work for the FCA and FCFCoA.
This role would suit a lawyer with at least 3 years civil litigation (or related) experience. A background, experience or demonstrated interest in employment and industrial relations law will be highly regarded.
