Legal Counsel

IPH Limited have a great opportunity for a new Legal Counsel to join our Legal and Risk Team, based in our Sydney office on a permanent basis.

The Legal Counsel role will report into, assist and maintain a close working relationship with our two Senior Legal Counsels and the Group General Counsel and Head of Risk.

This role is responsible for providing legal, risk management and governance advice and support to multiple member firms and shared services support teams across the IPH Group. You will have the opportunity to provide strategic input and legal solutions on other business matters, including Group projects, M&A transactions and annual reporting.

This is an important role that will suit candidates from a professional services background who are looking for a great in house opportunity.

Some of the key responsibilities would include but not be limited too;

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advise IPH member firms on matters including employment, privacy and general commercial issues that arise from time to time.
  • Draft, review and negotiate a range of commercial agreements, including technology licences, confidentiality agreements and services agreements.
  • Provide legal input into Group policies and procedures.
  • Assist in ensuring the smooth operation of the risk management framework across the Group.
  • Assist with ASX Listing Rules compliance.
  • Establish effective working relationships with members of the Group and external suppliers

Key skills and experience

We are seeking someone with a strong commercial acumen and the capability to provide pragmatic commercial legal advice to a diverse range of stakeholders. The role would suit someone with excellent communication skills, who has the capacity to work autonomously, as well as part of teams and projects.

To be successful:

  • You will be a practising solicitor with ideally 3-5 years’ post-qualification experience.
  • General corporate and commercial experience required, including experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts.
  • You will have the ability to think commercially and provide practical and business-oriented legal advice.
  • You will be a highly motivated and proactive self-starter with the proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • You will have excellent negotiator/communicator skills and the ability to support a large and diverse workload and prioritise matters and manage projects effectively.
