AUSTRAC (the Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre) is Australia’s financial intelligence unit and its anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing regulator. About the role

AUSTRAC’s in-house Legal team supports the agency in the performance of its regulatory, intelligence and corporate functions and provides advice on a broad range of legal issues, including:

•           providing legal advice on enforcement related matters and litigation

•           statutory interpretation

•           administrative law, and

•           privacy, commercial, property and employment law.

 

The two Principal Legal Officer positions report directly to AUSTRAC’s General Counsel and lead AUSTRAC’s:

•           FOI, Privacy, Capability and Reform legal team, or

•           Regulation, Intelligence and Enforcement legal team.

 

Eligibility

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a security assessment, maintain an ongoing security clearance and satisfy AUSTRAC’s pre-engagement checks.

To be eligible for assessment, applicants must be an Australian citizen.

Admission to practise on the roll of the High Court or a State or Territory Supreme Court, and must hold (or be eligible to hold) a practising certificate.
