Global Creatures is looking for an exceptional lawyer to join its Legal and Business Affairs team in Sydney.  You will work alongside our Head of Legal and Business Affairs across all aspects of our international business, and will have direct access to legal and entertainment experts worldwide.

Who we are:

Global Creatures is an Australian enterprise, headquartered in Sydney, with additional offices in New York and London. We develop and produce ground-breaking live theatrical productions – most recently Moulin Rouge! The Musical, winner of 10 Tony Awards and the first Australian produced musical to originate on Broadway.

Previous Global Creatures productions include: King Kong; Muriel’s Wedding The Musical; Strictly Ballroom The Musical; and Walking With Dinosaurs – The Arena Spectacular.

The role:

The Legal and Business Affairs team plays a pivotal role in our enterprise.

Global Creatures’ productions are founded on the acquisition, management, protection, and commercial exploitation of various IP rights encompassing films, books, music, and other original artistic and creative works.

This role will be responsible for:

– Advising on corporate and corporate governance matters;
– Drafting, negotiating and advising on a variety of agreements and legal issues;
– Developing and maintaining legal policies and procedures internally, best practice templates, summaries and contract/corporate registers;
– Assisting with the provision of general legal support to other divisions within the enterprise, including Production, HR, Finance and Marketing.
We are looking for a ‘star lawyer’ who will be a great fit with our team – you could be 4 years or 10 years qualified. We are open to receiving applications from all suitable lawyers with 4+ years post admission experience. Our ideal candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to:

Experience, skills and attributes:

– A commercial lawyer with excellent law firm on-the-job training, and possibly in-house experience;
– Proven expertise in corporate/commercial law and potentially IP law;
– Commercially astute and a critical and lateral thinker who can identify issues and develop practical solutions;
– Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to proactively manage competing priorities and workloads, and work well with cross-functional matters; and
– A ‘can do’ and collegiate manner.
