The Manager Legal and Governance is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and contribute to the continued growth of our organisation.  This position manages the legal function, strategic property acquisitions and disposals, management of leases, licences and contracts as well as having responsibility for the management and oversight of Elected Members complaints and resolutions.

You’ll be an energetic, forward thinker, playing a critical role in leading a team that values trust, teamwork and achievement. You will manage the day-to-day services and initiatives to fulfil governance and compliance and other statutory requirements for Council to ensure best practise in efficient and transparent decision.

You are a leader in your field and will have the ability to collaborate and cultivate relationships with our key stakeholders with a passion for continuous improvement and best practice governance and business processes. With a growth mindset and an ability to work in a complex environment to deliver effective and contemporary services, you will manage all aspects of the powers, duties and functions of the Council, offer insightful and impactful communications, strong credibility and a track record of managing within a complex and intellectually demanding environment.

THE ROLE

The role ensures the effective running of the corporate governance of the Council, including elected members and key stakeholder engagement and civic functions.

Division, Unit & Team: City Enablers Division, Corporate Governance Unit.

Location base: Town Hall, Hobart, Tasmania

PAY AND CONDITIONS

Enterprise Agreement:  Hobart City Council Enterprise Agreement 2021

Classification:  Municipal Officer, Level 7A

Salary Range:  $158,595 to $165,612 (includes 20% loading) + 12.5% superannuation

Tenure:  3 Year Fixed Term – Fulltime
