Job Description

Join this juggernaut with significant funds under management & enjoy a mix of in-house with SIZEABLE DEALS. The best of both worlds. Top package too.

  • Substantial Australian Copmany
  • Top-tier in-house team
  • Excellent benefits/package, large deals and more!

The business

Exclusive to Burgess Paluch, our client is a leading fin services juggernaut with very significant funds under highly active management. Unusually, a role has arisen in Melbourne for a mid-level derivatives lawyer who enjoys working on large matters but wants to take their career in-house. Forget about focusing just on reg or contractual terms, this role suits a true derivatives lawyer who wants to take their career in-house without losing out on deal experience.

This business is well known, has a substantial market cap, significant local  assets, and a profitable and sustainable model, delivering high rate returns across broad areas, including share markets, projects and infrastructure. Its large legal team is highly ranked, full of quality lawyers, and actively engaged within the business and highly sought by it.

The role

Joining the large Australian legal team as legal counsel, in perhaps your first in-house position, this role offers both hands-on business engagement and engaging work within the legal team, and readily available mentoring from a senior lawyer charged with ensuring your success. Broad in scope, the position has a focus on derivatives as they relate to investments.

Who it will suit

Suited to a pro-active and team oriented up and coming derivatives lawyer, this role will require a well trained and intelligent lawyer with quality drafting and advisory skills, superior commercial nous, and good interpersonal skills. As the legal team is closely knit and high-quality, someone who is keen, motivated and able to contribute will be highly sought.

The benefits

While the role will pay well, with a strong package as expected from a blue-chip brand, there are a range of additional benefits available to suit, including WFH, training, career development and defined opportunities for advancement. Additionally, this business is recognised for hiring and producing quality lawyers, and there are long term career opportunities available within the legal team. There will be a chance to work with switched-on and high achieving executives, lawyers and professionals, as well as interact with top-tier legal teams. Hands-on mentoring from a switched-on and attentive senior lawyer will ensure your success.
