Job Description

Join this tier 1 industrial with significant operations & large legal team. Fantastic environment and sophisticated business. Commercially engaging.

  • Substantial Australian Corporation
  • Broad commercial role in a top-tier in-house team
  • Positive culture, significant benefits + WFH

The business

Exclusive to Burgess Paluch, our client is an ASX 50 industrial business with a substantial market cap, significant local and global assets, and a profitable and sustainable business. Its large legal team is highly ranked, full of quality lawyers, and actively engaged within the business and highly sought by it.

The role

Joining the large Australian legal team as legal counsel, in perhaps your first in-house position, this role offers both hands-on business engagement and engaging work within the legal team, and readily available mentoring from a senior lawyer charged with ensuring your success. Broad in scope, the position has a focus on assisting the business to grow and move forward, supporting operations broadly and working on corporate, projects, significant procurement including resources, and at times even finance, IP and competition law.

Who it will suit

Suited to a pro-active and team oriented up and coming front end lawyer, this role will require a well trained and intelligent lawyer with quality drafting and advisory skills, superior commercial nous, and good interpersonal skills. As the legal team is closely knit and high-quality, someone who is keen, motivated and able to contribute will be highly sought. Best suited to front-end lawyers with backgrounds as varied as corporate, commercial, projects, energy/resources, or even front end finance or IP, the position will enable you to work closely with the business units and take care of key assets for it.

The benefits

While the role will pay well, with a strong package and highly attractive incentive scheme, as expected from a blue-chip brand, there are a range of additional benefits available to suit, including WFH, training, career development and opportunities for advancement. Additionally, this business is recognised for hiring and producing quality lawyers, and there are long term career opportunities available within the legal team, and perhaps more broadly in the business over time. There will be a chance to work with switched-on and high achieving executives, lawyers and professionals, as well as interact with top-tier legal teams. Hands-on mentoring from a switched-on and attentive senior lawyer will ensure your success.
