Our Manager, Governance & Board Secretary Role

Positioned within the Office of the CEO, The Manager, Governance & Board Secretary has oversight of both Board and Department of Health Governance arrangements for the Hospital. Using their specialist knowledge and experience, this role co-ordinates the affairs of The Royal Women’s Hospital Board and its Committees, and ensures that the Hospital meets its external reporting requirements and governance obligations as a publicly funded institution.  

Reporting direct to the CEO, this role offers a rare mix of autonomy, high-level interactions, and the opportunity to add value to a highly regarded “for purpose” institution. Dealing directly with key Executives, attending Board and Committee meetings (often online) and also assisting the CEO with governance, the incumbent will enjoy a rare level of responsibility and job satisfaction as you support the Hospital achieve its aims and perform in accordance with its values and legal obligations.  

A key part of the role includes preparing for, organizing and attending Board and Committee meetings, taking minutes, and following up to ensure key outcomes are achieved. In addition to high-level analytical skills, the successful applicant will possess highly evolved organizational skills, the ability to deal directly with senior Executives and Committee leaders, including the CEO, and work with the Board to achieve their aims.  

About you  

This role will suit a proven professional with experience working for Boards, and relevant qualifications in areas such as law, accounting and/or a Company Directors etc. On a personal level, you will be highly organized, able to manage upwards and follow up when needed, enjoy a structured work environment and task setting, and thrive under their own steam and autonomy.
