About this role…
The firm currently has an opportunity for a Commercial Lawyer to become an integral team member of their Precedents Committee in the role of Precedents/Knowledge Lawyer. Working across their commercial practice, the role will involve other areas of practice such as litigation/employment from time to time.  They require someone who is easy-going, engaged & committed to providing high quality work, with the ability to quickly grasp the needs of various stakeholders to ensure firm-wide consistency & efficiencies.

Some of the key responsibilities will include:- 

  • Management of the Firm’s precedents (ie. creation, review, amendments and updating) particularly in relation to Corporate Commercial and other associated areas as required;
  • Assist with identifying best practice processes to manage precedents within the firm’s document management system, including promoting the capture of precedents and knowledge sharing within the practice;
  • Take an active role in internal projects and initiatives focusing on improvements and increased efficiencies in the areas of precedents, related systems, and workflow;
  • Undertake project management tasks associated with the rollout of precedents, including training, resources and information sessions, develop Help documents and implement precedent development guidelines; 
  • General administration, identify gaps, duplications and deletions of precedents etc.

About you…
Able to ‘hit the ground running’ ideally with a Current Australian Practising Certificate and min. 4 years PAE corporate/commercial law (some exposure to litigation, employment and property advantageous);

  • Experience in a similar role will be highly regarded;
  • Strong research and excellent legal drafting skills eg. agreements & ancillary documents together with an understanding of the process of template development;
  • Proven organisational and project implementation skills;
  • Other Qualifications in workplace training an advantage;
  • Articulate, pro-active, outcome-focussed, engaging & confident manner!
